Careen Shannon serves as Senior Counsel (formerly Partner) at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP, and is the Executive Producer of the important new documentary, “Las Abogadas: Attorneys on the Front Lines of the Migrant Crisis.”

Jerrica Stovall is currently AILA’s Associate Director, Volunteer Engagement and Member Services. She joined the team in June 2022 after a long-time career in Higher Education where she oversaw all areas of engagement and taught Foundations of Leadership.

Brenda Quintanilla is a 2L at UC Davis School of Law. She is involved in the Immigration Law Clinic, Latinx Law Students Association, Trial Practice Honors Board, and Law Students Association. Brenda is passionate about crimmigration advocacy and enjoys reading/writing poetry, going on walks with her dog, and watching movies."

Randall Chamberlain practices US and Canadian immigration, based in New York and Toronto. A former chair of AILA’s New York Chapter, he is also active in the Canada Chapter and serves on the national asylum and refugee committee.

Melissa McElroy is a second-year law student at the University of Colorado, where she is a Student Attorney in the law school’s Civil Practice Clinic and Articles Editor on the Environmental Law Journal. Her legal areas of interest include humanitarian immigration and labor law. When not studying, Melissa enjoys the natural beauty of Colorado and bakes.

Woorod Atiyat is a second-year law student at Pace University School of law, where she is interested in immigration defense work. As a future immigrant rights advocate, she hopes to fulfill her desire to do more practical work on contemporary issues and apply her diverse practical experience and lawyering skills to provide effective legal assistance to those who have been historically marginalized due to their immigration status.

Marisabel Alonso is an Associate Attorney at Landau, Hess, Simon, Choi & Doebley in Philadelphia. She loves the Immigration legal field and looks forward to learning more about it every day. 

Karen Hill is an Associate Attorney with Green and Spiegel, in the Philadelphia office, where she focuses primarily on employment-based nonimmigrant visas. Karen has been a member of AILA since 2019 and serves as Co-Leader of the Women in Immigration Law Interest Group and as Chair of the Philadelphia Chapter’s National Day of Action 2023.

Linda Evarts is a Senior Supervising Attorney at the International Refugee Assistance Project. Prior to joining IRAP, she served as a public defender at The Bronx Defenders and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Dolly M. Gee of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Jennifer Ibañez Whitlock has spent her professional career working in immigration law and policy; currently she serves as policy counsel for AILA focused on immigration enforcement and humanitarian processes. Before transitioning to non-profit work, she was in private practice, focused on family-based immigration, humanitarian relief, and deportation defense.
